How long does Canon toner last?
The C-EXV54 cartridges that are used in the Canon imageRUNNER C3226i can last a long time. It’s a heavy-duty printer, so the black cartridge is rated at 15,500 pages, and the colour cartridges at 8,500 pages. This assumes 5% page coverage, in accordance with ISO-19752 which is an international standard to ensure that everyone is using the same measurements to provide page yields.
Can Canon laser toner cartridges be refilled?
It’s possible but we don’t recommend it. You can refill HP toner cartridges but, in most cases, you would also need to reset or replace the chip on the cartridge so that the printer doesn’t identify it as empty. Refilling toner cartridges used to be a viable option in the days before reliable compatible cartridges, and chips that could tell the printer whether the cartridge had been used before. Today, it is just as economical, considerably easier and a lot less messy to buy compatible cartridges instead.
How do I change the toner on my Canon imageRUNNER?
You can change the toner on your Canon imageRUNNER C3226i easily. You will see a warning message when you need to change the toner. When that happens, open the front cover on the printer and pull the empty toner out. Take the new cartridge, and with the white part upward, shake it up and down a few times to distribute the toner. Hold the new cartridge with the flat part of the tip facing down and slide it into the printer as far as it will go. Close the front cover, and the printer will register the new cartridge.
