What ink does Epson WF-2840 use?
The Epson WF-2840 uses 603 standard capacity and 603XL high-capacity ink cartridges. These are often referred to as “Starfish” because of the picture on the original Epson packaging, and the printer needs four (black, cyan, magenta, and yellow) to run. All the cartridges shown on this page are suitable for the Epson WF-2840 printer.
Can you refill Epson WorkForce ink cartridges?
It’s possible but we don’t recommend it. You can refill Epson WorkForce ink cartridges but, in most cases, you would also need to reset or replace the chip on the cartridge so that the printer doesn’t identify it as empty. Refilling printer cartridges used to be a viable option in the days before reliable compatible cartridges, and chips that could tell the printer whether the cartridge had been used before. Today, it is just as economical, considerably easier and a lot less messy to buy compatible cartridges instead.
Can I use a different brand of ink in my Epson printer?
Yes, you can use a different brand of ink in your Epson printer. It is not necessary to purchase original Epson cartridges. We recommend that you use our range of compatible cartridges, which are high capacity, fully guaranteed, and considerably cheaper than the Epson originals. You can find all of these listed near the top of this page.
Do all Epson WorkForce printers use the same ink?
No, not all Epson WorkForce printers use the same ink. Many of the cartridges look very similar, but you will need the correct type for your printer. You can ensure that you are buying the right cartridges by either selecting them from a page specific to your printer (this page is for the Epson WorkForce WF-2840) or by checking the cartridge numbers (this page contains 603 and 603XL cartridges).
